About Dee Dee Cooke

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Born in Miami, Florida, and now based in Atlanta, Georgia, my journey began in the church, where I first discovered the joy of using my voice to inspire others.

By the age of eleven, I had already won my first talent competition, setting the stage for what would become a lifelong pursuit of music. I continued developing my craft through school choirs, including the renowned Singing 100, and as a musician in both marching band and college ensembles, playing clarinet in high school and alto saxophone while attending Bethune-Cookman College.

While touring the East Coast with the Bethune-Cookman Choir, I had the incredible opportunity to perform alongside legendary artists such as Lou Rawls and Ray Charles, and to sing with the United Negro College Fund Choir under the direction of Cissy Houston. Those experiences deepened my love for live performance and strengthened my commitment to musical excellence.

After relocating to Atlanta, I continued honing my artistry by performing throughout the city, competing in talent showcases, recording background vocals, and collaborating with fellow recording artists. Over the years, my voice has been heard in churches, concert halls, recording studios, and live venues, with each experience shaping me into the artist I am today.

Although I've recorded music and been blessed to lend my voice to the work of other artists throughout my career, I chose to wait until I had a story worth telling before releasing my first solo project.

Today, that moment has arrived.

For years, I've poured my heart into music behind the scenes. Now, I'm stepping into the spotlight—not to become someone new, but to finally share the artist I've always been.

My music blends Soul, Southern Soul, R&B, Reggae, Country Soul, and touches of Funk to create songs rooted in authenticity, resilience, love, laughter, and real-life experiences. I write for people who want to feel something—whether it's joy, healing, nostalgia, empowerment, or simply the freedom to dance.

I don't create music to chase trends. I create music to tell stories that connect people, uplift hearts, and remind us that we're never alone in what we experience.

I'm currently preparing for the release of my debut project, Unapologetically Me—a collection of songs that reflects my journey, my heart, and the authenticity that has guided me throughout my life. More than an album, it's an introduction to the artist I've always been and the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

Every song has a story. Every story has a soul. Thank you for being part of mine.
